 SUN ‘n FUN’s 3rd Annual “Hangar Door Canteen” goes MASH!

 

The HANGAR DOOR CANTEEN dinner dance is a festive fundraiser like no other and has already become one of SUN ’n FUN’s most popular annual events. This year, the Canteen takes on a MASH theme which stands for Make Aviation Scholarships Happen and will feature fabulous food and music from the 1940s and early 1950s, silent and live auctions, dancing and more. MASH or period costumes are encouraged!

All of the proceeds generated from this spirited evening through ticket and sponsorship sales and the live and silent auctions will directly support the year-round student education programs at SUN ’n FUN and specifically provide scholarships for deserving students to attend Destination: Aviation and STEMtastic!TM camps throughout the year.

Even if you can’t attend, you can support the event by purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to win a Sam Lyons framed original acrylic painting “Chasing the Sun” PLUS a bonus framed print “Pacific Sunrise” signed by the Jolly Rogers Unit! The combined value of these two pieces of art is $5,000. The raffle winner will be chosen the night of the Canteen, however, you need not be present to win.

SUN 'n FUN Fly-In

SUN ’n FUN, a 501(c) (3) not–for–profit organization based in Lakeland, Florida, is best known for its annual International Fly–In & Expo, which takes place at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida.  The 2013 dates are April 9-14.

 
The Florida Air Museum is an outgrowth of the SUN ’n FUN Fly-In.  Museum founders were among the original SUN ’n FUN Fly-In volunteer base and were directly engaged in historic aircraft reconstruction and preservation.  The Museum was the first step in addressing a greater need for dedicated facilities, education programs and staffing to share not only Florida’s rich aviation heritage but also to educate the public regarding the significant role of aviation in our society.  In 2003, the Florida legislature designated the Florida Air Museum as the state’s official aviation museum and education center. In recent years, an active education program has developed which includes summer camps, a lecture series, a scouting weekend and various other educational and cultural programs.  SUN ‘n FUN is also the proud home of the Central Florida Aerospace Academy high school at the campus entrance.
